Bennelong Australian Equity Partners (BAEP) today announced the arrival of new Investment Director, Julian Beaumont. He will be responsible for managing the team’s client relationships including reporting and client marketing support, as well as assisting Chief Investment Officer Mark East in coordinating the team’s research efforts, sector and stock research, and portfolio construction function.
Julian joins BAEP from Investors Mutual where he has worked for the last seven years, most recently as a Portfolio Manager of the Future Leaders and Industrial Share Funds. Prior to this, Julian worked in London at international investment firm Montpelier Group, where he helped establish several new funds and went on to manage a global equities hedge fund. He has also worked in the Investment Banking division of ING in Sydney and Singapore advising on mergers, acquisitions and corporate finance transactions, and as a lawyer advising clients on mergers, acquisitions and strategic investments at national law firm Mallesons Stephen Jaques.
Mark East said Julian was a welcome addition whose skills and passion for investing complemented their high-performing team. “Julian’s extensive experience will be a real asset to our growing business. We look forward to him contributing to our goal of consistently generating attractive shareholder returns over the long term. While we have established a strong track record over the past seven years, our plans continue to be ambitious.”
BAEP currently has over $4.8 billion in funds under management across the team’s three strategies: the Bennelong Australian Equities Fund, Bennelong Concentrated Australian Equities Fund and the Bennelong ex-20 Australian Equities Fund. The team’s funds have had strong support from the retail market with the Bennelong ex-20 Australian Equities Fund recently added to Colonial First State’s First Choice platform.
