Who we are

Bennelong Funds Management develops and distributes funds around the world through our Australian businesses and wholly-owned subsidiaries, BennBridge UK and BennBridge US. Our boutique asset managers invest in Australian, UK and global equities. Globally, we have more than AUD10 billion in funds under management and advice (as at 28 February 2019).

We have a proud history of identifying and partnering with quality boutique asset managers, offering high-grade investment solutions to institutions, financial advisers and direct investors. Our team provides a full suite of corporate services, including distribution, marketing, compliance, finance, HR, technology and administrative support.

In Australia we currently support eight teams and manage 13 funds, while BennBridge UK supports another two teams. BennBridge US develops strategic relationships for the Group as well as distributing a number of our existing funds to institutional investors.

Our boutique model

As equity partners in their individual businesses, our asset managers’ goals are aligned with those of their investors, driving them to achieve superior outcomes. While each boutique has its own distinctive philosophy, as well as a dynamic and highly disciplined approach, they collectively believe in the benefits of active investment management. As such, they strive for out-performance, always seeking opportunities to maximise returns within their robust risk management frameworks.

We provide a holistic range of services to our boutiques, harnessing their entrepreneurial spirit while allowing them to focus what they do best—manage money. The asset managers’ boutique size encourages a nimble approach to the way they do business; and this is coupled with Bennelong’s backing and business support, driving the scalability of their success.

Part of the Bangarra Group

Bennelong is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Bangarra Group (formerly known as the Bennelong Group), a privately-owned company encompassing a number of independent businesses.

Bennelong’s philanthropic agenda is demonstrated through its ongoing support of, and alignment with, the Group's charitable arm, the Bennelong Foundation. The Foundation aims to enhance community wellbeing and provide opportunities for positive and lasting change in our community, through partnering proactive social ventures. Since it was established in 2002/03, the Foundation has supported over 200 organisations through over 400 grants.

Global Presence

BennBridge UK

BennBridge UK operates a multi-boutique investment firm that strategically partners with specialist fund managers. The business is located in London, and is based on our successful Australian model.

BennBridge provides a structure that gives its boutiques the same quality support offered by large institutional firms, but enables them to operate in a more personalised and entrepreneurial environment. As a minority equity partner to each boutique, BennBridge offers access to a holistic range of non-investment functions, enabling each boutique to focus solely on their own investment performance.

As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bennelong Funds Management, BennBridge benefits from a powerful global distribution footprint and the ability to drive the scalability of boutiques’ success.

Tellworth

BennBridge’s first boutique, Tellworth Investments, launched in October 2017. Led by Paul Marriage and John Warren, the strategy is focused on UK equities with a small and mid-cap bias. Paul and John previously ran an established and multi-award winning UK equity long-short strategy with a long track record at Schroders and Cazenove Capital.

As specialists in UK small and mid-cap stock picking, the Tellworth team aims to build on its previous success and deliver strong investment returns.

Pembroke

BennBridge's second boutique, Pembroke Emerging Markets, launched in April 2018. Sanjiv Bhatia, Founder and CIO of Pembroke, has more than 25 years' experience investing across emerging markets and a track record dating back to 2005. Most recently, he managed the Emerging Markets public assets for Harvard Capital Management.

Sanjiv and his team aim to generate alpha by identifying high conviction ideas derived from top-down themes and bottom-up fundamental analysis, with a low net exposure.

BennBridge US

In 2019 our subsidiary BennBridge US opened its New York office. The company plans to develop strategic relationships within the industry and distribute a number of Bennelong and BennBridge UK's existing investment funds to institutional investors, similar to our strategy in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Our sponsorship

After many successful years together, the Bennelong SwissWellness Cycling Team's management has decided to pursue different opportunities. As a sponsor we have explored a number of options to keep the team going, but despite considerable effort we have not been able to arrive at a suitable solution and the team will not be continuing in 2019. We at Bennelong remain committed to supporting the next big thing in cycling, both in an advisory capacity and via continuing events for our clients, and will continue to be involved in the sport next year and beyond. We wish all the riders the very best for the remainder of the season and in the future.
