Acknowledged in his legal career as one of the leading securities lawyers in Australia, Stephen has recently retired as a Consultant in the Corporate Practice of Ashurst in Sydney. He was head of the Ashurst China practice until he retired from partnership in 2018 . He was a director of Platinum Asset Management Ltd from 2014 to 2022 and was previously a Director of several listed companies. He has been involved in various community organisations, being Chair of the Australian Caption Centre and a director of AsiaLink and a founding Director of the Australian Institute of Asian Culture and Visual Arts (VisAsia).
