Skerryvore Asset Management is based in Edinburgh and is a boutique of Bennelong’s UK arm, BennBridge. Its Australian unit trust, which was launched just over a year ago, aims to generate absolute long-term returns by investing responsibly in emerging markets.

Jonas Daly, head of distribution at Bennelong Funds Management, said there has been a high level of interest in Skerryvore’s approach from the Australian market.

“The team’s insights into emerging markets companies, coupled with a commitment to sustainable, high-quality investing, provides Australian investors access to companies with dynamic growth potential from some of the world’s advancing economies.

“Having the fund available on these platforms broadens its accessibility to a wider group of investors and advisers, particularly those who are looking to invest in an emerging market focused fund that places strong emphasis on alignment between investors and management teams.”

The Fund was also nominated for the Lonsec & SuperRatings Fund of the Year Awards for 2022 in the Emerging Manager of the Year category. This award recognises excellence across the funds management industry, focusing on portfolio managers with a strong investment approach and sense of focus on its investors. Lonsec Research determines the finalists and winners by applying a three-step selection process, with the initial screen ensuring the fund managers are rated ‘Recommended’ or higher by Lonsec.

“Our investment philosophy is focused on seeking to create high conviction portfolios of reasonably valued, high quality companies that are exposed to or operate in emerging markets,” said Skerryvore’s lead portfolio manager, Glen Finegan.

“We have always believed that finding companies that are both far-sighted and fair-minded should make it possible to deliver good returns over the long term. With this in mind, we aim to identify management teams and owners with good reputations, whose interests align with ours and our investors.”

The Fund has ratings of ‘Recommended’ from Lonsec and Zenith, and ‘Superior’ from SQM Research.
