Kardinia Capital wins 2012 Fund Award - long/short category

8 October 2012

Kardinia Capital (Kardinia) has won the Australian Equities - Long/Short Fund Manager of 2012 at the inaugural Professional Planner/Zenith Fund Awards, announced at a ceremony in Sydney on Friday. Kardinia beat Perpetual and Regal to win the industry award recognising funds management excellence.

Mark Burgess, Kardinia Portfolio Manager, said the team was thrilled to receive the award and attributed their success to robust investment and risk management processes that have been fine-tuned over many years. "It's fantastic to be acknowledged by the industry and Zenith, particularly given the business was launched just over a year ago," said Mark.

The award was based on Zenith's assessment of each nominee's investment management capabilities, and the experience and expertise of the team that implements the managers' investment processes.

Kardinia was established by Mark Burgess and Kristiaan Rehder, in partnership with Bennelong Funds Management, in August 2011. The team manages the Bennelong Kardinia Absolute Return Fund, a long/short Australian equity product available to both institutional and retail investors.
