Bennelong Kardinia Absolute Return Fund maintains 'highly recommended' from Zenith

18 July 2012

Zenith Investment Partners (Zenith) has reaffirmed its ‘highly recommended' rating for the Bennelong Kardinia Absolute Return Fund (the Fund). The Fund was also ranked number one in Zenith's 2012 Domestic Long/Short Equities Sector Report in the ‘variable long/short fund' category.

The long/short Australian equities fund with an absolute return focus is the result of a partnership between Bennelong Funds Management and Kardinia Capital, which is majority-owned and managed by co-portfolio managers Mark Burgess and Kristiaan Rehder.

In Zenith's recent report, the Fund was described as "one of the more dynamic variable beta strategies in the market". The report also highlighted that Kardinia's more defensive approach reinforces one of its key attractions; its ability to produce a different risk/return profile to long only funds and be complimentary to a diversified portfolio.

Portfolio Manager of the Bennelong Kardinia Absolute Return Fund, Mark Burgess, said he was very pleased with Zenith's report, in particular the acknowledgement of the strategy's successful six-year track record. "Our partnership with Bennelong and recent release of the Fund's Product Disclosure Statement have now made the Fund accessible to retail investors for the first time," said Mark.
